The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to launch a two-pronged strategy to ensure that everyone wears the protective helmet. Acting Chief Justice Mr. Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt told transport commissioners of both states that mere issuing of GOs would not serve any purpose. "On one hand you have to enforce the provisions of Motor Vehicle Tax Act that made the use of helmet mandatory and on the other hand, launch an awareness campaign with the help of police, explaining the dangers of not wearing helmets," Justice Bhosale said. The bench observed that mere buying of helmet is of no use. "You have to make the riders wear them at the time of driving the vehicle," Justice Bhosale said.
On July 16th, 2015 Hyderabad Traffic Police had posted a preliminary action. The post comes as "Very soon HELMET rule will be implemented in Hyderabad. How many of you agree to re-implement Helmet rule? Have your say please .....Admin H!"
